Video Tutorials Form 4 Mathematics Matrices and Transformation Lessons

On this page you will get mathematics form 4 video tutorials on Mathematics Matrices and Transformation Lessons arranged in sub-topics

Lesson 4

In lesson 4 on matrices and transformation, we are looking at successive transformation. In this lesson, more than one change is explained. So more than a single transformation is performed following each other (combined/composite transformation).

Kindly follow the tutorial for more information

Lesson 5

We can pre-multiply the matrices alone first and later on the new matrix formed by the object to get the final image. In this case, the middle image is skipped commonly referred to as Single matrix of transformation

In this case, we pre-multiply the successive matrices and obtain one (single matrix) which then transforms the object. The middle image(s) is/are skipped thus mapping the object directly to its final image.

Lesson 6

The lesson begins with highlights of the coverage of lesson 1 to lesson 5. The lesson covers the Inverse of Transformation.

Suppose that A is a Transformation which maps an object P onto an image P. Then a transformation which maps P1 back to P is called the inverse of transformation A. For more information on the lesson follow the video link below:

Lesson 7

The lesson starts with a reminder of what you covered in lesson 6.

Lesson 7 is on Area Scale Factor and Determinant. This is the ratio of the area of the image to the area of the object.

Area Scale Factor= Area of the image

                                   Area of the object

Area Scale Factor equals to the determinant of a matrix of the transformation of a given object.

Lesson 8

This lesson covers shear and stretch

Lesson 9

The lesson opens by finding the solution to the exercise that was given in lesson 8

Lesson 10

This is the final lesson on the chapter Matrices and Transformation. All our lessons open by revising the previous lesson. The lesson is on Isometric and Non-isometric transformations.

Isometric transformations are those in which the object and the image have the same shape and size e.g. rotation, reflection and translation. Non-isometric transformations are those in which the object and the image have different shape and size.
